About Our Hydrosols

Hydrosols-the healing waters

Hydrosols are nature’s purest plant extracts. They contain only water and herb extract. Produced through steam distillation (a process of botanical extraction illustrated on the temple walls of ancient Egypt), our hydrosols are made with permission from the nature spirits of the land, and only in a way that will support balance in our ecosystem.

The herbs are harvested with intention, and placed in a copper still. Steam is passed through them, picking up the botanical components of the herbs. Then they are condensed into liquid form, strained and filtered through Herkimer diamonds, and bottled.

The result is a clear, vibrant, mildly flavored liquid that looks like water. This liquid is many times stronger than herbal tea, and must be diluted for use. Though very concentrated, the hydrosols have strong cleansing, balancing, and nourishing effects on the body. They are often easier to take for people who have a reaction to regular herbs.

Because of the high and unified frequency of these products, and the absence of fibers, waxes, and other physical components, hydrosols allow deep cleansing of cells without the discomfort and extreme symptoms sometimes associated with regular herbal formulas. If you have tried herbal cleansing or treatments before, but stopped due to severity of cleansing symptoms, we recommend you to give these a try.

Quality
There are no additives, alcohol, or preservatives in these products. They contain only pure water and botanical constituents.

How are hydrosols different from alcohol based tinctures?
There are several notable differences. Hydrosols have a shorter shelf life than alcohol based tinctures. They are best stored in the refrigerator unless they will be used within a few weeks.

Alcohol based tinctures contain the whole herb (or parts of the herb). They contain all the fiber of the herb, in addition to its essential oils, alcohols, ketones, sesquiterpenes, waxes, etc. Hydrosols contain none of the plant fiber and material. They carry a much higher concentration of the water soluble constituents and essential oils. Many people find they have a faster and stronger action on the body. The dosage needed for desired effects may also be lower.

How to use hydrosols
Hydrosols can be used both externally and internally. Used externally, they accelerate healing processes for skin, eyes, muscles, inflammation, and even broken bones. They can be added to cremes, balms, and lotions. Used in their pure state with nothing added, some can be applied directly to wounds and even eyes for regenerative effects.

Taken internally, they should be diluted for best results.

Dosage
Like essential oils, hydrosols are extremely potent-much more so than typical alcohol based tinctures. Be sure to dilute them for internal use, or use very small amounts-only several drops per dose instead of a full dropper.

It is recommended to start with 5 to 10 drops per dose and take 2 to 3 doses per day. If cleansing symptoms become too strong, reduce the number of drops. If more effect is desired, increase the number of drops.

Another alternative is to use 1/2 to 1 ounce of hydrosol added to a quart of pure water. From this dilution, take 1 tablespoon of hydrosol 2 to 3 times daily.

Always drink water with your hydrosol, or add up to 6 ounces of water to the hydrosol each time you take it.

Our hydrosols are not by-products of the aromatherapy industry. They are made with the intention of producing a gentle and powerful herbal remedy. They are left with all essential oils intact for the most wholistic and complete formulation.
